1. What is the process for finding a collaboration teacher?
The process is flexible and up to you! Find a teacher you would like to collaborate with, have a conversation, and determine if you both would be interested in working together on the grant.
2. What if I want to apply for the grant but can’t find a collaboration partner?
No problem! Simply fill out the application form and include details about your needs, areas of focus, and any other relevant information. The BVTU is available to assist in connecting you with a suitable collaboration partner.
3. Can I work with a retired teacher?
Yes, you can collaborate with a retired teacher, as long as they hold an active teaching certificate.
4. Do both teachers need to submit individual applications for the collaboration grant?
No, only one application is needed. The lead teacher (or the teacher initiating the collaboration) should submit the application, providing details about the partnership and project. The other teacher will be included as a collaborator.
5. How do I apply for the collaboration grant?
To apply, fill out the application form available through the BVTU website. Ensure you provide all required information about your collaboration partner and proposed project, then submit the completed form.
6. How long does it take to hear back after applying?
The BVTU reviews all submissions and notifies applicants about approval or next steps by the 15th of every month.
7. Can I reapply every year?
Yes, you can apply for the grant every year. Each year, you are eligible for up to 3 days of release time for collaboration. Teachers who have not yet accessed the grant funds will be given priority.
8. How are the collaboration days scheduled?
The 3 collaboration days are flexible and can be scheduled based on both teachers' availability.
9. What are the expectations for the collaboration?
The collaboration should be focused on enhancing teaching practices, improving student learning outcomes, or developing new instructional strategies. Both teachers should actively participate in the collaboration process and meet any agreed-upon goals.
10. Are there any funding or budget restrictions for the grant?
The collaboration grant is intended to cover the cost of time spent working with your partner (up to 3 days). Any additional funding for materials, resources, or technology are not included.
11. Can the collaboration grant be used for virtual or remote collaborations?
Yes, virtual or remote collaborations are allowed. As long as you and your partner are working together to achieve the goals of the project, the format (in-person or virtual) can be flexible.
12. Can I apply for this grant if I already have funding from another source?
Yes, you can still apply for the collaboration grant, even if you have other funding. However, the collaboration grant is specifically for teacher collaboration and mentorship.
13. How do I report on the outcomes of the collaboration?
After completing the collaboration, you are asked to submit a brief summary outlining the outcomes, insights gained, and impact on your teaching. The specifics of this reporting process will be concise and provided by the BVTU.
